Can You Microwave Plastic Plates?
It is not usually recommended to microwave plastic plates, which includes plates made out of foam. If they are not labeled as microwave-safe, they may melt, warp, or even catch fire during heating cycles. However, if the manufacturer explicitly labels them as “microwave-safe”, the plate likely shouldn’t melt or warp.
Are Hefty foam plates microwave-safe?
No, it is not recommended to microwave foam plate products such as Hefty® Everyday™ Foam Plates and Hefty® Deluxe™ Plates and Platters.
If using these foam plates, they work best for serving or eating food that has already been heated up in a different dish. Their strength and durability help prevent food from soaking through the plate. And they make cleanup a breeze—simply toss in the trash when you’re done.
What plates are microwave-safe?
Hefty® paper plates can be used in the microwave. So, instead of using foam plates for your next microwaved meal, consider using one of the following paper options instead:
